Al Alexander is a truly distinguished leader with a remarkable record of professional activities and honors. His recent achievements include being named Honoree of the 2025-2026 Marquis Who’s Who Distinguished Humanitarian Award, alongside his listing in Marquis Who’s Who in America and the Top Professionals Program for the same period. He was also honored with the 2024 NEA H. Councill Trenholm Memorial Award and recognized as the 2019 Chesapeake Rotary Club’s Educator of the Year. His extensive list of accolades further includes the 2023 New Journal & Guide Impacting Lives Award and the 2018 Hampton Roads Gazeti Exemplar Award. Demonstrating his commitment to educational excellence, he was also named a Fellow for the 2022-2023 National Math and Science Initiative.
 
Beyond his active role as Chairman of the New Chesapeake Men for Progress Education Foundation, Al is deeply involved in community and educational initiatives. He currently serves as Vice-President of Ground Zero Youth Development & Mentoring Incorporated and is a Board Member for Operation STOP (Chesapeake’s Opioid Initiative) and the Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare (CIBH) Board. Al has also contributed to major educational initiatives, co-authoring the NEA/CEA Grant for Term Grad Project in 2023-24, and serving on committees like the 2024 CPS Disruptive & Innovative Technologies Committee and the National Education Association Educator Diversity Collective. Notably, he has committed himself as a thirteen-time Mentor/Regional Advocate for the Virginia Commonwealth Challenge, truly embodying a profound dedication to community development and empowering the next generation.
