Recognizing Achievement

When you visit our site, you see our mission is about supporting the youth of Chesapeake. A vital part of that support? Recognizing and celebrating their achievements! It’s not just about handing out awards; it’s about building confidence, inspiring others, and reinforcing the values of hard work and dedication.

Spotlighting Success: Why Recognizing Achievement is Key to Building Strong Futures!

Here’s how the Foundation puts a spotlight on excellence:

  • Honoring High School Graduates: We’ve proudly recognized hundreds of African American male graduates from Chesapeake’s high schools. These students are highlighted for their academic success, perseverance, and hard work. They are seen as “the best and the brightest” and function as role models.
  • Celebrating Middle School Scholars: The Dr. Darnell Johnson Middle School Academic Scholar Award recognizes outstanding African American male students from each Chesapeake middle school. This award celebrates their academic success, determination, leadership potential, and growth. It’s designed to encourage them to become ambassadors for high academic achievement and prepare successfully for high school.
  • Recognizing Community Pillars: The Bronze Eagle Achievement, Leadership, and Philanthropy Award honors individuals or organizations for their achievements, leadership, and generous contributions to advancing education, scholarships, and mentoring services for Black males.
  • Highlighting Academic & Community Service: Our Student Merit Award Program has specifically recognized the academic achievements and community service of students from various high schools.

By recognizing these young men and supportive community members, we underscore the importance of striving for excellence and preparing for bright futures. Your support helps make these crucial moments of recognition possible!
